What is Maximum run time?

In short

The longest a single serverless job may run before the platform stops it.

Maximum run time is the ceiling on one job: pass it and the platform ends the process mid-execution, so anything unfinished is lost. It decides which workloads belong in serverless at all, since longer work needs a different compute model. Alibaba Cloud Function Compute caps a run at 600 seconds, while Amazon Web Services allows 900 seconds and Appwrite allows 900 seconds. Long model calls and bulk imports are where that ceiling surfaces first.
