What is Output price from?
In short
The rate a provider charges for the tokens a model generates, which usually costs more per token than reading input.
Output tokens are the tokens a model writes back, and their rate sits above the input rate on most price cards because generation takes more compute per word. Output price is the entry rate on that generation, quoted for a standard block of output tokens, and it is the line that grows with long answers and agent loops. Anthropic's rate is $5 to $50, AI21 Labs charges $0.40, and Alibaba Cloud DashScope (Qwen) lists CNY 0.50. Choose the model before the provider if output dominates.
